With charcoal there isn't much work needed to be done except adding layers and smudging them in. The advantage of this was that I could smudge the vine charcoal back into the background if I messed up, and the disadvantage was that if I added to much stick charcoal it wouldn't blend that nicely. Pen took me the longest because I had to start sketching in pencil and then trace over in pen. The advantages of pen is that I could get the darkest shades, but I couldn't go back if I had messed up. Pencil is definitely the easiest out of all of the mediums because I could erase any time I messed up. The disadvantage of pencil is that it created harsh lines and it was hard to smooth out them out. Colored pencil was my favorite because it gave the artwork a life that none of the other mediums could achieve. Colored pencil can be layered to make it look darker, and you can use contrasting colors to help with shading. A disadvantage that colored pencils have is that you can't smooth out the lines and if you mess up you can't go back.

This artists name is Albert Penado, and he works with spraypaint. He has his work all over Barcelona and parts of India. His works are mainly cartoon themed but they can look more realistic. The use of brighter colors against the darker backgrounds makes his artwork pops more. His work is inspiring to me.
His work is inspiring because his work is very neat even though spraypaint is very messy and it makes the work cooler. Spraypaint is one of my favorite mediums because you can make anything out of something that is in a can. Penado chooses contrasting colors which makes his art pop even more against the dark backgrounds he uses. Even though spraypaint is a very messy medium he makes it look very neat and there are clean crisp lines. This week's illustration Friday was on tarot cards. I chose to draw part of the devil card for my illustration Friday drawing. I drew this because it didn't seem that hard and I didn't have to draw facial features.
